Where to get strap wrench for oil filter cap??

Is it something that I can just pick up at a local Autozone or is it BMW specific? If so, then where is the best/cheapest place that I can order one?

Also, is this compatible to be used on all other series models, like the 1 and 5 series??

Read some other posts regarding this, don't we need to torque it? At least that what one member said............

So if we need to torque it, then the strap wrench won't work.

A strap wrench will work, but as with all things the proper tool makes it easier. And while there is a torque value on it, since the Germans put a torque value on everything, there is no structural load on it. IMO just snug it down -- no need to go Godzilla on it. On the other hand you can not go wrong torquing it.

However note that simply lining up the torque paint is not correct (if it is still there). BMW may use that marking system for any number of reasons, but alignment on re-installation certainly is not one of them.

My cap wrench just arrived from Tischer.

Autozone, Kragen, Pep Boys did not have the right size in my area. Volvo uses a similar size on current models and some tool suppliers sell the same tool for both Brands.

BMW: 86.5 mm 16 flat sides
Volvo: ~87mm 16 flat sides
