steptronic shift knob removal - Help please

Can anyone tell me if the steptronic shift knob just pulls off or has a fastener of some kind to remove it?

Just pull straight up. It helps to have the car in D (switched off obviously). Be careful not to punch yourself...

hey...it happens Just make sure you're pulling perfectly straight, there's a plastic acutator rod in there, you wouldn't want to break. Also using two hands to pull, helps. GL.

you gotta give it some force...just pull it right out, and like kl2dc said, you can come back to work on monday with a black-eye if you yank too hard. I usually have it on P when I pop it off.

shift knob removal

I did not actually have remove it. I was DIYing the Sunglass Tray retrofit (removing the ash tray) and thought I might need to remove it. Not so... So I still do not know how (but have no need to now as I did the Sunglass Tray retrofit and did not need to remove the shift knob).
