Worth keeping car after my lease?

Where does the time go?
3yrs will be up in August and I'm left thinking if I should get another ride, extend the lease or buy her out?

My buyout is close to 30K and I only have 11k miles.
I haven't been on the forums lately so I don't know how much my car is worth or the going rates for financing.

What would you guys do?

30k for a loaded 335i with 11,000 that you know the history of is a great price still, imo atleast.

But that seems like a high buyout, but what do i know.. I am assuming your lease was 500+ with a couple grand down so in the end you may be paying way more for the car than if you originally financed it. But if you like the car and keeping it will make you happy and you are confortable with whatever payments or paying cash for it, than so be it!

I have a 09 370z, put 3,500 down , pay 440 a month but my buyout is only 16,200 after 39 months (33k sticker)...
but thats a nissan..

I know some frown upon bmws who have nissans and vice versa. But I am a car enthusiest and I have no predjudiced. I like cars for what they are, and you sir certainly have a sweet ride that i would not want to give up after leasing it and only putting 11k on it!

what was the orignal price of the 335 ?

Talk to your dealer. They will probably knock a few grand off making it worth while. Look up what similar cars are going for and decide if it's worth it for you.

Dude,

I don't know why you would preserve the miles...unless you were saving it for someone else to enjoy. Doesn't make sense, not driving and enjoying the ride while you have it. I had 11K miles on my 07 335i after two years, but I had an excuse: I was deployed for 2 years. Since I returned, I have put 30K miles driving it like I stole it and loving every chance I could to take it out.

What's the use of preserving it? I guess you really didn't want it...or appreciate it.

Nah it's not that at all... I work in the city so I commute via subway Monday to Friday.
Forget about parking in NYC.

I try to drive her as much as I can... The gym is less than mile both ways and the city itself isn't far from me and that's maybe on the weekends to hang. My GF always sleep over or vice versa and I have 2 bikes for the summer
to ride...

I'm not trying to save dude.

I would be inclined to keep it, i.e. buy it outright, because of the low miles (remaining warranty) and poor current lease rates. For the most part, the 2010 335i is not much different than yours and if you like the car as a weekend driver, why not just keep it?

I was in the same position as you a few months ago but I walked away from my 2007 335i because it had close to 40k miles.

Good luck

Ordinarily not a thing but mine was tuned for about 30k of the miles.

Plus, I have always been a believer in owning a car under warranty.

So far KBB & NADA saying car is worth more than my buy out... looks like I'm more incline to keep it so far, especially if I could get them to knock off a few grand?

Do I bring the car to the original dealer or any dealer will do?

Thx.

Any dealer can handle the transaction. You might be able to work the CPO warranty into your payment, so that's something to consider too. Normally it doesn't make financial sense to buy out a lease but with so few miles (and if you still like the car) I can definitely see why you would.

I don't mind having my Honda out of warranty but never a BMW.

I hear you guys... I did the math and if I bought the car in the beginning, I would have saved a few grand, but that money I didn't dump into the car at first, was used elsewhere to make money, investments/real estate, etc...

Is the CPO warranty same as my current factory one? How much should I be looking to spend on it?

What am I looking at in terms of finance rates? 5%?

Not sure about the interest rates but I found this info in another thread from a 335i owner:

"I am coming to the end of my 3yr lease and have decided that I want to keep the car (I have 17k miles). I will retain the 4yr/50k warranty, and a dealer is offering $1500 to CPO the car and extend the warranty to 6yr/100k."

You obv don't know what life is like in NYC. I'm surprised he actually drove it for even 11k miles. I don't know what options or packages your car has, but see if you can get some money off from the dealer, and then just sell it on your own if you don't want it. Thats what you call low mileage!

how does it not make sense. The residual buyout is based on a price of a vehicle that would have 30k miles on it. His car has 11k miles. Hes essentially buying a car that was based on a 30k res miles for a car that has 11k...plus he might get more from a dealer. (albeit, bmw will probably not be prone to give a discount for such a low mileage car as they can sell it as a cpo for a lot more).

I think it makes sense for him to buy, but what do i know...
