What do you think about this deal? brand new 09, yes 09..well sorta
Car was a loaner, the clock was punched so the in-service date is 5/09, car has 11,700 miles. The car was NEVER TITLED. So technically its a "new car" I would be the 1st owner.
Its a 2009 335xi coupe (MSRP: roughly $52,8xx) Steptronic Sport package (with 17s) ipod/usb Navigation Premium package Heated front seats The exterior of the car is basically a 9.6 out of 10, virtually not 1 stone chip anywhere. Tires are very good. Interior is a 9 out of 10.. little bronzer or something on the passenger visor, and a scuff on the same visor as well. I am sure they'd replace it with another cars. The mats are basically brand new looking, no wear on any of the seats. ***I will say this, the interior smelt like a new car even with 11k miles*** The burl wood by the ashtray has some light scratches on it, that's basically it. They are going to sell it to me as a CPO, so warranty good till 5/2014 or 100k. They had car listed WITHOUT CPO, for $42,365. He then came back at me with $40,700 WITHOUT CPO. Then he came back again when I brought up CPO and laughed at their price and said $40,700 INCLUDING CPO. I mean with almost 12k miles, the car was a loaner, and the new model coming out... but here is the real giver... they have a TWIN of the car - same year, almost same in service date. So they have 2 of these 09s never titled with same mileage (800 miles apart), same color, options, etc. I would imagine they want to sell this car pretty badly, at least 1 of them considering they have another identical 1 after this sells. Manheim is paying $33-34k for this car, then add fees + shipping, and any service/repair the car needs. Also its $2k to CPO the car the salesman said, which is about right.. So I walked out and we were at $40,700 with CPO...giving all the information that I stated, what kind of deal is it as we sit? What would be a great deal on my part? |

I got my non loaner with 5k on the clock for less and with more options(including extended warranty).
Granted mine was an 08 bought in 09. The loaner title would scare me though.

Price wise compare the car to prices for used CPO '09s in your area. You're not eligible for any new car financing on it so the fact that it's untitled is really meaningless.
Price sounds fair if the car is really what you want. Make sure you plan on keeping the car a long time, otherwise you'll be giving back most of the savings over a new '11 model when you go to sell it. |
