Ontario Regulation 535/05 – Ethanol in Gasoline. The regulation calls for an annual average of five per cent ethanol in gasoline, beginning in January 2007.

The ethanol contents of Shell gas are as follows:
Bronze - 10%
Silver - 5%
V-Power - 0%
(see original post too)

Average:
(10+5+0)/3 = 5% (this meets regulation)

Shell has reassured me that V-Power will remain 0% ethanol.

Not sure what your experiences are in good ole' BC...but in Toronto, I've found a difference in fuel economy / performance amongst different Shell gas stations.

In my area I always try to go to a newer Shell gas station vs and old one near my house...the newer shell stations seem to give me better Shell V-power gas...you may think I'm crazy...but I'm serious....

I've seen PC's "SuperNet 94" for a while around here. I'm just not sure it would make such a difference on a 328i, what do you guys think? Is it worth the price difference?

I use Shell V-Power whenever I can.

sunoco has 10% ethanol...shell 91 is cleanest...a few ppl i know used sunoco 94 and all of them had hpfp's replaced...i've used it in the beginning but stepped away from running it on regular basis and switched over to shell 91...i really think its ethanol that kills our hpfps

My e-mail to Shell's engineers was specifically about ONTARIO's laws since my car will be shipped and driven in Ontario.

gotta call on that one.

since I'm here anyway I'll continue (also because I started it )...

I dropped mine off earlier today for some bulb replacement (brake and angel eyes ) and because I've had very long cranks to get the thing running for months (an early sign).

Its been getting worse to the point that when it does start I need to 'catch' it with throttle so it doesn't stall.

Last week I got the final death toll - car feels like it has around 50hp and shudders like a...
Stopped and started in a parking lot and all was fine.

BMW held the car all day - apparently they need to upgrade the software first to ensure that doesn't resolve the issue (yeah, right) then they'll put a new HPFP in.

I use sunoco 94,,,, 94 octane is still better than 91 imo, who cares about the e-content fuel pumps will go regardless.

Good to know. One more reason to stick to Shell whenever possible.
