I saved my HPFP.
Hello Everyone. I have saved my HPFP from failing with the BMW fuel cleaner. My HPFP has died before. I started getting long cranks again every morning just like it did before it died last time, sometimes as long as 10 seconds. I ran my BT scan tool and I had several codes including 2AAF and 2FBF. I thought I would try the fuel cleaner and see if it would help but I also schedualed an appointment at my dealer. It took about the whole tank of driving to get any results but now I have normal cranks and I'm not getting any new codes. I just put another bottle in today when I filled up just to be thorough. I cancelled my appointment and put my JB+ back in and everything is great.

how long have you been driving it after you finished your tank?
i changed my spark plugs and the car ran well for 2 days and then all of the symptoms came back.

IF you take it to the dealership they are going to to a pressure test... ALthough everything seems fine now, it's probably going to fail anyway. I had long cranks (between 2-5 seconds) on some days, and other days I would crank normal (1 or less seconds). I took it to the dealer and they replaced both the LPFP and HPFP and updated the software (yesterday). It may be good now, but I wouldn't hold out much luck for it. Best to get it replaced, and be done with it, until it starts showing symptoms again...

Its much better for you to have it replaced on your own time as opposed to you being stranded somewhere. |

Yea I thought about this too.
From 5miles to 15000miles , I never used Fuel system cleaner and HPFH failed at 15000 From 15000-30000miles, I am using Fuel system cleaner every 3000miles and HPFP is still so far so good. Maybe it's helping to avoid failing.

Hope your right, when my pump went, it would only get long cranks on hot days, sometimes when it was cooler (under 80) I would go for a week starting perfect, then on a warm day, back to long cranks!

I seriously doubt that fuel cleaner would have any long-term effect on your HPFP.
Good luck, tho. If that's a cure for the problem, it's great news for us all!!!

I've notice more people in the south where only 91 octane is available to them causing the HPFP to fail more than people in the northern states that have 93 octane.
Just an observation.

Really, a whole 2 days! Take your car in to get looked at before you get stranded.
