Shop quote for replacing turbos!

So, I called up a couple of shops here in Houston to see who was capable of replacing the stock turbos with other (less mileage) stock turbos...

I contacted a shop that seems pretty knowledgeable that also has a GT1 and they are quoting me 15 mechanical hours ($1573 in labor) for replacing the turbos on the 335.... he also said there are parts that need to be replaced when replacing the turbos, is this true? What parts would need to be replaced?

Is this a decent deal? The dealer was quoting me $2800 to "recalibrate" the waste gates so I figure if I am going to pay the labor I'd might as well replace the turbos with some with much less mileage.

$1600 labor
$200 parts

+ my turbos.... good deal?

The parts are the two wastegate arms I'd assume and the labor at $100 isn't cheap by any means. It's an entry level luxo performance car, you don't have to take it to a Porche shop to get the job done.

i would much rather try to get the ones with less miles if possible within your budget of course... GL!

i don't know what those $200 parts are but if those are waste gate rods to actuator, they might charge you extra labour for it. well, at least that's what my local dealer quoted anyways...

I'd hold off for a few weeks and get a turbo upgrade like JPSimon

Thank you very much guys! I really appreciate all the responses...

SFValley... You are no stranger to this car, you know how long its taken to come this far so I am just not comfortable putting upgraded turbos on yet..However I figure if I am getting down there to fix the wastegates I'd might as well put a set of turbos that only have 5k miles as opposed to mine with 74k!

If i remember correct , Rob Beck stated that it's not nessecary to lift or lower the engine or to loose any motor mounts. It will be alot more easy , but it can be done without.
