This isnt official, but i just got off the phone with the head tuner (harvey) from the shop that the dyno will be at tomorrow.

He said that shiv is stuck in bad traffic and will miss his flight, so they are going to get things started around noon instead of 8am.

just in case any of u guys have to travel a long ways for this.

Indeed... so feel free to sleep in guys. I'm still looking to finish all the cars tomorrow so be prepared for a long day (and night). Sorry for the last minute change. My flight will arrive tomorrow morning at 11.30am which means I should be at the dyno shop by 1pm with laptops ablazin'.

So does anyone have any results from CO? Dyno charts not adjusted for altitude?

was great to meet everyone!

Overall it was better than I expected. I was in an incredible hurry so I only caught bits and pieces of Shiv's "speech. Sorry guys if I seemed a bit curt, but I was incredibly rushed. If he can chime in on anything I missed, that'd be great.

I will preface it by saying that due to almost running out of gas in the middle of nowhere, I put in some no-name gas the day before - Bradley if I remember right. Secondly, the run was on a Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno and to convert to Dynojet equivalent numbers, Shiv had me multiply the values by 1.13 and a bit of googling yielded roughly similar conversion factors. I only show the raw numbers, do the conversion however you like. But I'm really only interested in the power GAIN, so if you want to compare against your own Dynojet nums, you gotta do some multiplication.

Baseline run:

268whp @ 5250 rpm/ 316wtq @ 2800 rpm

Procede-Basemap

310whp @ 5250 rpm / 390wtq @ 3000rpm

Shiv correctly predicted that the vehicle would produce peak horsepower at a lower rpm than a vehicle at sea level. Everyone was surprised at the very minimal (if any) reduction in power and I was shocked at the torque numbers. Keep in mind the values I posted are from a Dyno Dynamics that reads 13% lower than a Dynojet!

Without a doubt the vehicle is better. Part throttle is actually useful now whereas earlier I really disliked the on/off nature of the throttle. To me, the vehicle now responds like the sportbike I used to own. Tap the throttle lightly and it jumps. My sportbike days really taught me to judiciously and smoothly apply throttle and with the stock 335i it felt like there was a CDV on the throttle or something - a disconnect of sorts.

Being that I'm more of a canyon carver than a stoplight-to-stoplight kind of guy, it is far more power than I would ever use or need. The top-notch responsiveness however, has turned the vehicle into another beast altogether. Don't get me wrong, the power is absolutely intoxicating!

I had to leave early but I'd love to hear how 335i= and his E90 fared on the dyno.

Shiv,

Would you say that the 335i loses less power at altitude then your average turbocharged car like a Evo or STI?

What octane fuel are the numbers based on?

I ran the finest No-Name 91 octane available to me in Timbuktu. Now whether it truly was 91 octane is whether or not you trust "Bradley fuels".
