hows your subframe/cradle look? i just replaced mine with a new one.
if you know somebody good with aluminum and tig welding you might be able to repair my old one. it came out nice (wasnt under pressure when removed) but i dont know how tweaked it really is. the new one bolted in with no problem. there are four cracks in the welds and is a little tweaked where the control arm is. theres someone out there who could get it straight, but i dont know who. best bet is to get a new one, but some people are wizards at this sort of thing. if youre interested, $50 but no guarantees, as is. i paid $500 for a new one. check out tischer. i can get about $50 for the old one from the metal recycling place where you turn in your used beer cans. its out of a 08 335i e92 coupe. i also got a remanufactured steering rack from rem steering in cathedral city. about $470 including core and shipping. dealer wants over $2000. my housing was in 2 pieces so had to get another one.
realoem has the exploded pics and part numbers of anything on your e92. keep checking out the "for sale" for parts. I got some parts from some of the members. Cool people! Some are willing to work with you on price. Good luck with the build! Last edited by turbo6shooter; 04-16-2010 at 03:40 AM.. |
