Military people its story time
Someone did this on a G35 forum thought Id do it here, you read some pretty cool shit.
Heres the story. A little while back i was coming back from Baghdad. Nothing major Ive done this many times before. Well all of a sudden !BOMB! My convoy got struck with a roadside bomb. I really don’t remember too many details. Just a lot of yelling and looking at the blood on my uniform. Well after that whole ordeal I went to the hospital. The whole right side of my upper body was pretty much bruised, my face and arm were a bit cut up. I even had to stay at the hospital t check for internal bleeding or ruptures. Thank god im ok. I did think to much of it at the time occupational hazard, just like someone at an office could get a paper cut.lol.. I just saw a pic of the truck after and now Im just like I shouldn’t be alive right now. I was extremely lucky. The Pope ( bullet proof) glass saved me. Ironically a few months ago when i was asked if i wanted it i said no because it gets very hot with that, good thing no one listens to me. Now I’m posting this not to get sympathy at all. Ever since i saw that pic i have loved my life every second. We all get caught up sometimes with little things that anger us or put us in a bad place. Just take a sec to remember that life is the most precious gift we have appreciate it because you never know when that it maybe taken from you!!! Smile everyone is a beautiful day!!! Just how all good war stories start..... well no sh*t so there i was b@lls deep in a Camels @&#( when all of a sudden... ok seriously i was waiting in line ready to get into the chow hall. next thing i know some taps me on my shoulder. Says " thank you for serving this great country, i would be honored if you come sit with me at my table." Who is it but none other than george bush. How can you turn down an offer like that specialy when you see the huge body guard behind him. So its like 10 soldiers him and barbra bush. We just talk about random stuff. The whole time i was thinking. Leo just ask why his son is keeping you here, but i kept my profesionalism ( the thought of getting dropped kicked by a gurad crossed my mind too) and i kept my mouth shut. All in all it was a good experience. Barbra even said i was a very handsome young man!!! hahaha |

Bush 41 does look like a respectable, honorable man. I think he deserved to be reelected.

Check out the site www.restrepomovie.com and you'll see what its really like in Afghanistan. Two of my medics are featured in it, Old and Kelso. Junger did a good job documenting what life was really like for us last deployment..enjoy!

I'd tell mine some other time. I ets 2 years ago. Got some bad news today though. 5 soldiers from my old unit hit a roadside bomb. One guy I know lost his leg and is in critical condition. 2 other guys are badly wounded and flown out to Landstuhl also. Last 2 got lucky and returned to duty. Worst part? They were hit on a road where I patrolled quite often and where I missed an ammonium nitrate ied that went off after I was about 400 meters away. Same fukken area.

So no shit there we were, 25 miles west of Fallujah and about 10 miles east of Ramadi when we drove up on a Iraq traffic control area where a VBIED'd gone off the day prior. It was a tanker truck and the EOD guys estimated at least 2000lbs of explosives in there and it killed a half dozen Iraqi Policemen. We were on a interstate type four lane highway and I just couldn't believe the hole in the highway. It was like five or six feet deep, right through the asphalt and compressed gravel subgrade and like 20 feet diameter. But what was even crazier was as we were driving up on it, first we saw the massive engine block, like a 20+ liter V10 big-rig diesel engine that probably weighs 1000lbs just in the block, then another 100 yards down the road was the blast crater. Then another 100 yards down the road past the crater was a set of axles and off to the left side way out in the desert was a couple more wheels with the tires still on them. The explosion had just lauched these huge chunks way the hell out there. But despite that kind of threat, those Iraqis still man those check points.

I've been to Iraq, and being there i notice more of what the Army does, and my hats off to you guys, I can't imagine going out there like you guys do.
I'm a crew chief on the AC-130U gunships, so hopefully some of you have been helped and seen others feel the wrath of the mighty 105. |

My brother is deploying to Iraq in May. He's part of the brown water navy, riverines. They'll be patroling the Tigris and Euphrates on these bad assed PT boats, think updated Vietnam style. They have a 7.62 minigun on the front, 50s left and right and a 40 off the back.
The 7.62 minigun is referred to as, "the Jihadi Flame Sprayer." Maybe they'll get to use it on a camel or something. He is psyched to go; he cant wait.

In America if we lose power for a couple of days, it's anarchy. In Iraq and Afghanistan there is shit blowing up and peoples' kids getting killed in the streets, and they walk it off and go about their lives. If that shit went down in the USA it would be chaos. The people over there are hard. |

The day I flew out of Baghdad, we lost six guys in a booby-trapped house (or hbied as they called it at the time). Talk about a mix of emotion...happy to be leaving that hole, torn up over our guys.
No war stories here...just to say that too many good people die. You want stories, join up and get a few of your own...you'll understand why people are usually pretty quiet about it. |

I was in Iraq from July 08 to Jan 09 but I have no cool stories to tell. I am a network administrator with a wing unit and I was stuck in Al Asad...Only cool thing I got to do was donuts in a Polaris Ranger..

meh. why?
why would you want to hear about friends dying and shit blowing up? like one of the earlier posters said, join up and get your own, then see how eager you are to blab to people who don't understand.
