FMIC / DP Question!

will aftermarket FMIC void warranty?
meaning will i have to reinstall stock IC when i want to service my car?

and also, will DP's keep car from passing smog?

I just recently leased '10 335i and have so many questions
I have JB3 installed, and Forge DV's coming in a couple days.
wondering what I should be looking into next.

sorry i'm new.. TIA for the help!

catless dps will not pass emissions, HFC will...as far as FMIC and warranty its highly unlikely assuming u went with a reputable brand and installed correctly.

From what I have seen a FMIC is not that big a deal to most dealers but DPs are frowned upon in places. If your stock secondary cats are in place there is a chance you will pass an E-test but there are no guarantees.

You can usually get away with an intercooler but they'll be keen to look over the rest of your car when you bring it in.

Always take your mods off before going in and you'll never have problems

Thank you for all the replies.
Another question.
Will forge DVs void warranty?

I'll be removing mods before service. But was wondering if there were any that would definitely NOT void warranty so I could leave those in.

It all depends on the dealership, the relationship you have with SA and for what type of service you're bringing your car.

So far I have not had any issues with BMW (knock on the wood three times) when I brought my ride for regular scheduled service e.g. 24KMs oil change; brake service, since I've upgraded to BBK all BMW did is just re-set service message.

However if I'm to have any service done due to failure, I would be removing my MODs that BMW can make a claim are not OEM and could of caused the issue.

Modding your car is accepting a risk that you can void the warranty...

Depending on what version of the ISTAP you have installed on your '10 335, you may get cat inefficiency codes... I know on the latest version (march '10) software, some people on the forum are complaining that they are getting Cat inefficieny codes with the Catless and even Catted DP's...
