RFT non RFT debacle
This is my first post .......Im a noob
I pick up my 320d this weekend my only concern was changing to non RFT at a later date. This thread has gone a long way in relaxing my fears should i want to move in that direction. So a big thanks to all that contributed to this thread so far |

Nearly 3000km on Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s on the 325i. I've now had the chance to sample them on various well-known and challenging roads and am delighted with them. They do remain slightly less sharp on initial changes of direction than the RE050A RFTs but the limits are at least 5% higher and there is a lovely elasticity in the way they communicate the end of grip so the car is actually more playful yet easier to drive near the limit. Wet grip is even more superior and again, the more gradual breakaway makes them nicer to drive in these situations. And I'm still noticing the far superior ride and refinement.
Interesting switching to my wife's 205/55 16 Turanza shod 320dT - there is actually clearly more noise, patter, rumble and harshness than in my car as well as crisper steering whereas when we were test-driving (and mine had RFTs) it was quite the other way around. That diesel, on those squishy tyres, in sport mode is a riot!
