FYI, I dont do any street racing, from a dead stop or a roll. Its illegal, very dangerous and not to mention, very inmature. |

To me straight-line racing is 90% about the car and 10% about the driver. Whatever car is faster wins. Really, how hard is it to push a gas pedal down and shift quickly?
Real racing is done on a road course where you also have to turn, brake, recover slides, and pass other drivers safely. This is real racing . . .

IMO a roll race shows which car is actually faster, when from a stop it comes to who gets the better launch, who has more traction, etc. But from a roll it comes down to which car is truly faster.

OK you all win. Im stupid for thinking a strait line race should start from a stop.
You guys all go have fun, gettin your "kills", doing your rolling start races on public freeways. Maybe when you get a real "kill" you'll figure out that theres better ways to prove what car is faster. Then it will be to late....... |

Just like another one already said: I want the HP output, not the stages.
Anyway:

Agreed, going from a dig is also driver dependent. I've seen better drivers shed .3 - .5 seconds off an ET! It's just like anything in life you push what you got. AWD car owners will preach that a real race is from a dig, RWD owners like to say from a roll is what proves which car is faster because the possible liabilities are taken out of the equation. I think both apply, from a dig equal launches and drivers will show which car is faster, from a roll if you're both decent drivers it def shows which car is faster. Jay, street racing is immature, however it's all relevant. There is a big difference in street racing downtown with pedestrians on the sidewalk, in neighborhoods, school zones, on a crowded freeway and doing some friendly straight line pulls on a freeway late at night with little to no traffic. If you do the former than you're an idiot, but I'd be willing to bet we've all done it. I have a hard time believing with the cars you drive that you don't do engage in a friendly run from time to time on the street or highway, of course using good judgment of the conditions around you, etc. But you're right in general street racing is immmature and dangerous everyone here knows that, we don't need a lesson in it, but I'd be williing to bet EVERYONE who buys a fast car and tries to make it faster does engage in it on public roads/highways as well as those who preach against it that drive fast cars and mod them to go faster, lol.
