Procede: O2 Sims removal

I'm currently having time only to visit the forum 1 ,or 2 at the most, times per week. So I'm trying to keep track with latest updates.

Its been 2-3 weeks since I read a thread about removing the O2-sims-pins from procede harness. I cannot find that anymore. Do we need to do it with the latest maps available or we should wait until further notice?

You don't need to remove them at this point

Nope. The ses light is taken care of by a CAN command. No need to mess around with rear o2 sensor signal anymore.

Shiv,
Do readiness codes stay set with o2 sim removed and Can Clear enabled? This is important to those of us that go thru emissions testing via OBDII. Thanks.

Nope... you will not get readiness with the o2 sim disabled. But you can run your usual o2 mod values if you'd like. And you will get readiness. Even if you keep CANclear on as it wont clean any codes if there are no codes to begin with.

Is this why my car was triggering CELs on the dashboard which dissapeared completely a few seconds after?

Yes. But you won't be able to remove your o2 sim until u update your software. Some old circa 2007-2008 dme software trips a half engine/MIL light when cat codes are pending. Which was addressed in later versions so that only an SES light is tripped when the code goes post-pending which happens well after the code is pending. The CANclear feature is designed to catch and cleat the code in the pending stage. Before it the SES light even comes on.

You stated previously that there was an advantage to disabling the O2 sim and allowing CANclear to keep codes clear.

Quote:
4) CANclear Catalyst
From the first time I ever used a hardware based o2 sim (aka "downpipe fix") to surpress catalytic conversion/inefficiency codes, I knew it was a short-term solution. There are just too many potential side effects from running an o2 sim. Understandly considering that they works by trimming the rear o2 sensor values. So, in effect, they are feeding the DME inaccurate AFR data. You can minimize the side effects of o2 sims by carefully adjusting the strength/level of o2 sensor signal adjustment. But even then, there are cars (especially those with new DME software) that simply don't respond well to o2sims. And no matter how you adjusting it, you will still get some sort of code and serious drivability issues (o2 sensor trimming codes anyone?).
Does this mean you would recommend enabling the O2 sim just to obtain readiness for the OBDII test and when complete, disable it again? Thanks.

I would never suggest such a terribly irresponsible thing since all these tunes are for off-road use only.

Ha Ha, sorry...
I am mearly trying to understand how the CANclear/O2 Sim/readiness work in theory and optimal setup. I would not dream of such things off of a track. In fact my car is still OEM.
