Can I fix this?
curb rash on the areo lip. Is this too deep to fix myself? I am not trying to fix it perfect, because I prob can't but what can I do. I am not guna take it to a paint shop, no $ for that. Those yellow spots are not rub offs, they are either primer or the bumper itself. These pics are taken after I used ScratchX already.

That would definitely require a repaint to fix, not much you can do to diy as the plastic looks gouged deeply. Cheapest fix would be to pick up some carbon fiber or painted splitters, that would cover that all up.

Obviously a body shop will give you the best results. However, you'll have to paint the driver's side too inorder to match, since you'll be covering up rock chips and such. You don't want one side perfect and not the other.
Or, do as 328i said and just cover it with new carbon or painted splitters. Or, go to expresspaint.com, buy the proper color and spray it yourself. You'll get enough paint for both splitters. And since there's a seam right there and it's at the bottom of the car it won't look to terrible. You can mask at the seam and not worry about color blending, etc. I did this to a car I had a looooooong time ago. The results were pretty good for an out of site area. I wouldn't do my hood, but for that down low it's going to be fine. Make sure to prep properly by sanding. Apply light, but full coats, and then clear coat. No one but you will ever know.

I think I am going to go with the sand and repaint myself route because I really like the aero lip look by itself. some questions
So I should mask off the car and paint the entire front lip? or just the 2 splitters portion? How do I properly prep for paint? is there a write up somewhere besides the expresspaint 1s? Is 1 aerosol can of paint and 1 aerosol can of clear coat from expresspaint enough for the lip? I am scared lol... |
