Car did not start last night
Hi,
So I got into my car last night around 830pm. I had not started the car since 12pm that day. I put the key in and pushed the start/stop button and i just keep hearing clicking noises. I do this again and the same thing happens, clicking, clicking. I try the lights and they keep flickering on and off. I had no choice but to hit the SOS button and call for a jump start. I also see a error message on my idrive "Passenger Airbag Malfunction" Long story short, the tow truck arrives, jumps my car and the car started up properly. Not sure why the battery would have died like that. I did not leave any lights on or anything. My only mods are procede and thats it. Any thoughts? Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?

I had the same thing happen to me when I had my Mazda 6. Drove the car to Six Flags one day and the car started and drove fine. Spent the day at SF, got back to my car and the battery was dead. Nothing was left on, the battery was just toast. Lucky for me, the car was a stick so I just had two of my friends push me and I popped the clutch. Got a new battery and was fine after that.

I found out that the battery issue for me was something more. It had to do with putting the key fob in, pushing the start/stop button without turning car fully on. Meaning, I didn't start the car. After that I must have just pulled the key out without pushing the start/stop button. With that, apparently the idrive doesnt shut off.

I understand, but it was still a car. I was just pointing out that I had a similar issue with a car that was running fine and when I got back to it, the battery was dead. Just because it was not a BMW does not mean that what I told him did not apply. All I was trying to say to him is that this kind of thing can happen and does and it does not matter what kind of car you have, a battery is a battery.

Meaning your were in aux mode..........Vipeezy. I suggest you read your manual instead of blogging about Android vs iPhone.

I have had my 06 325i since new. It only has 18K miles. The warranty is over. The car gets parked for weeks with no starting issues. About 2 days ago I tried to start the car and it could barely crank but still got it started. After this noticng that the battery was weak I hooked up a 2A battery tender. After 3 days the car will not start. hooked it up to a 25A battery charger (while still in the car and connected) for about 8 hours and still would not start. Jump started the car and then drove it for about 20 miles keeping the revs up, while driving the radio would not have any volume to it and the brake light and ABS warning lights keep going on. When I got home I chyeck the brake fluid and the level is okay. Tried to start the car again and it is completely drained.
Called the BMW dealer on Guam and asked about this and they said the battery is dead. if i replaced the battery it would have to be the original one ($367) because the computer needs to know what battery it is and they also need to program the computer as to the charging rate ti needs to be at. I can buy an replacement batter (Interstate) for $135. I have an 04 Subaru STI with 16K miles on original battery a Mitsubishi Evolution with 46K miles just replaced the battery last year and never had this problems or things that needed to be done just to replace the battery. I can see it coming I cannot compare a BMW to a Japanese car but why make this a complicated thing? Any comments or suggestions? I think getting a $367 battery plus reprogramminng is crazy. |
