I'm not even going to touch the appropriaty of puting something like this on your car because I will sound like a broken record of all the other people posting responses. But I will touch on the functional aspect and practicality.
A friend of mine did this to his (surprise, surprise) Civic hatchback, and although it doesn't look that bad (and I'm being generous), the hinges make using the doors a fking pain in the ass! The doors no longer open completely out, and pushing them too hard puts stress on hinges themselves and actually threatens damage to a few body panels. On top of that, the doors are annoying to have to lift up every time you enter or exit th car, and he has to be SUPER careful not to let the doors fall when closing them because of the stress on the hinges. So in the end, it becomes an awkward and actually physically demanding dance. I rode around in his car for one day and was annoyed enough by the operation (not even talking about how it looks) to tell him I'm never going to ride in it again unless absolutely necessary. |

How are you going to feel when an actual Lamborghini with actual Lamborghini doors parks next to you? Like a gigantic poser?
You will make some 14 year old male friends, though.

^^^^^Got to admit that s pretty F@#$ing funny.
But on the topic of your thread, OP if you want vertical doors then get vertical doors, who cares what people think if you like it and it makes you happy then I say go for it. Other than that M3 Ive never seen them on a bimmer. However just a suggestion if you do do it, you have to go all out with cosmetic mods. Im thinking CF hood, trunk, front spoiler and some gold or magnesium blue Volk TE37s. Depends on the colour of your 328. Vertical doors are very ricer so you could use that to your advantage and get some very expensive top of the line JDM parts and you could find yourself with a very unique 328. Long story short don't listen to negative haters the only opinion that matters is yours. I can promise you that people WILL look in your direction if you get them. If thats what you want I say go for it and F@#$ the haters. |
