Oil change at Brian Jessel

My 1 year anniversary with my 328i is coming up in a few weeks. Brian Jessel dealership scheduled me in for an oil change in May 2010 a few days after i bought my car.

Since then my car has only traveled about 6K km. Will i have any problems getting a free low mileage oil change when i take it in?

It's not telling me to go in yet. It's calculating the next oil change to be on Feb 2011, or in 18K km. Yet i bought the car in 2009 - i thought it was 24K km or once per year?

(Whats interesting is that the build date of the car is Feb 2009. Which is exactly 2 years before the next scheduled oil change. Maybe i'm reading too much into this - but it feels like maybe the service schedule wasn't set correctly during PDI?)

I asked the same question at autowest BMW and they told me that they ONLY change the oil when the oil change indicator is on. They said that they had never heard of the "1-year" oil change.

I have not had problems with AutoWest giving me an oil change at least once a year even if the car is not indicating that it is due.

actually, i just went through a similar problem with bmw

i got my car last year april 2009, and i thought i get one oil change per year, so i made an appt to go into parkview. i had driven 17000km already.

here's what they told me

1) no oil change unless computer tells you (according to indicator would be 24000km)

or

2) if you drive LESS than 10000km after one year, you get a free oil change under the "low mileage oil change" rule. basically to avoid stale oil.

so i took my car to RMP and got an oil change on my own dime.

Strange. I spoke to 2 service advisors about this and both looked at me like I was huffing glue when I mentioned the 1 year low mileage oil change. Both claimed that they had never heard of such a service. They both insisted that they only change the oil when the indicator is on, no matter how long it’s been in the car. I think I’m gonna have to start taking names next time I go to the dealership, since it seems their customer service varies from person to person by the sounds of things.

I am getting my first annual low mileage oil change done this week at Town + Country and they didn't ask me how many KM I have on the car at all, but did tell me it was covered. I currently have about 12,000km on my car.

Got mine done after 7500kms at Brian Jessel.

Got a letter from my sales guy after 1 yr and just told me to come in for annual service.

BTW - Autowest was the worst dealership I went to when I was shopping for my car.
