Where to get engine oil in Brisbane?

Hi all,

My car is saying the oil level is low and that I need to add 1 litre of oil. So question is:
- will you just simply top up the oil? Car was last serviced at Brisbane BMW and has done around 8K kms since then.
- @Brisvegas guys: where do you usually get your oil? And what type and brand did you get?

Thanks a lot,
John.

I did an oil change on saturday. Good to meet you John.

I bought 10L of oil from Autobahn. Your 325i should take 5w-30 and castrol edge sport is a good brand.

I drop into the dealer and they top it up for me. No charge thus far. Ah, the joys of BMW ownership

FWIW I seem to need a litre after 8K

oil - best and cheapest

best oil for a 325i - 0-40W Mobil 1, have done heaps of research - you can't beat it and it is the BMW recommended oil (along with Castrol 5-30W). Unlike Castrol it is fully synthetic, whereas Castrol is syntech. A very important difference.

The reason Castrol is used by BMW workshops is that it is far cheaper to purchase than Mobil oils that are superior. End of the day its all about margins. Castrol is adequate, but to get the best out of your engine Mobil 1 0-40W is the way to go.

I have found the cheapest place to get Mobil 1 is through Nick at GL Lubricants. Just Google it they are based in Sydney and do daily dispatches. The cost is around $11 per litre, versus $22 at Supercheap or $30+ at BMW dealer.

I have just purchased 21 litres - enough for 3 oil changes, which will save me a small furtune

I got confused about those many rates so rang Brisbane BMW. It turned out they put Shell Helix 5w-40. They said that any fully synthetic oil is fine. Will do some shopping this weekend.

Ah naive question : is there any trick to open the oil cap? Look like it has a lock.

We actually both commented on the color of your car, I like it. Jarrad's looking at LCI tailights which should be an interesting coding adventure haha.
