Tire recommendation (for lapping events)?
Hi posted this in the tracking, autocrossing section but got no response. I figured I might get a better response since there is more traffic here anyhow.

The Dunlop Z1SS and Kumho XS have gone under a back to back test in which the Z1SS came out as a more consistent tire for course lapping while the XS was slightly faster in an AutoX course.
Iv personally driven on the Z1SS and they are an extremely grippy tire that is very affordable. I have nothing but great things to say about this tire. Stable and moderately stiff under sweeper like turns and very consistent over 20 minute sessions. -Charles@VMRWheels

These are probably the "top contenders" as far as tires go before you go r comps. You really cant go wrong with any from below, just depends on your budget.
Bridgestone RE-11, Nitto NT05,Advan AD08, Dunlop Z1 Star Spec, Kumho XS, Hankook RS3. Star Specs and NT05's are down right cheap, especially in the 17" size. While RE-11 and AD08's are on the pricier side. |

Thanks for the feedback boys!
I believe I will get the Dunlops as these tires will only be driven for HPDE and lapping events therefore will be driven on possibly 4 or 5 times only, running 19's for summer wheels. If these were everyday tires I would have opted for the RE11's most likely. Thanks again!

I get my new wheels with the Dunlops on Wednesday! Can't wait. I'll be using them for everyday driving as well.

Depends on a lot of varibles, I would assume. I'm guessing 10k-12k easily for me, but I don't track.

This really depends on your vehicles alignment and your driving style. These tires can last anywhere from 2-3 track days to 20-25k miles depending on what you'll be doing. I myself have got about 30k miles from a 200 tread wear tire.
