Halp - tyre types n sizes

Im in a bit of a dilemma atm and was hoping some of you lovely people could shed some light.

Ive had to change the front 2 tyres asap due to the inner/outter side walls being severly worn (the inner was just horrendous/dangerous) so i changed them to 2 part worn non run flats (thats all they had at the time).

So now im running on 2 [yokohams advent sport 225/35/19] non run-flats on the front and 2 [bridgestone 255/30/19] runflats on the back.

I am planning on changing all four to new non RF few months down the line but for now my questions are;

- Is it safe to continue driving with different types of tyres as my rears do have alot of tread left (about 5mm with inner parts being slightly worn) ?

- Most places dont have 255/30/19 part worns but they do have 255/35/19. Could i fit these comfortably on the rears without any problems (ie from BMW, insurance and general driving).

- I know i badly need a KDS realignment done, should i do it now or wait till i change the 2 rears ? does it matter?

- Also what is your general opinion on part worns. Should i stay clear or safe to put on providing theres no damage/repair.

Sorry the load of questions, all help is greatly appreciated

I would stay safe and try to fit brand new tyres all round....why spend money on part worn? and especially you're mixing up run flats and normal tyres! big no no...

Tyres are very important!!!

Thanks for the input. I know i should and i plan on doing it a few months later (i dont have £800+ to spend at the moment) but im at this situation because of the front 2 being dangerous so had to change immediately with what i could at the time.

Hi,

Did your fronts suddenly go from being fine to 'dangerous' overnight?? Or have you just left it too late?

Mixing RFT and NON RFT is not recommended by the tyre manufacturers.

Don't fit a 255/35/19 it has too large a diameter and will mess up your speedo etc and look a bit daft. Stick with standard size 255/30/19.

Part worns? I wouldn't touch em, they could have lots of internal damage from curbing etc that you will never see. Death traps.

£800??

You could easily get a full set of NEW half decent tyres for your rims for under £600 fitted at work/home.

Try www.event-tyres.co.uk

If you go budget you could do for less than £400 new, still safer than part worns IMO.

I knew the fronts were worn for awhile but i had no idea just how bad they were until it was put on a ramp (i should of taken pics, the inside wall was shredded) so yeah its my fault for leaving it late.

I was hoping these part worns would last me til july/aug where i planned to buy 4 new conti CS3's from BMW (quoted £800) hence why i havent gone budget tyres atm but thanks for the info on the 255 35, i found alot of them available and was tempted but now ill stay away from them.

Thanks for the link and info doughboy, if i cant find any rears then i may just have to buy new budget ones and wait longer for the good stuff.

My advice to anyone with runflats (or normal tyres ftm) is if you find inner wall looking worn, they could be worse than you think! mine didnt look no where as bad as it actually was.
