Had my 335d e91 for just over 3 months now, few issues but sorted now, love the car and the power!!

Whilst on my drive the other day I happened to look at the front tyre as the steering was on full lock, I was shocked to find that the inside edge had worn down the threads/wire, the outside and middle have loads of tread left.

Took it to my local tyre place who have ordered 2 new bridgstone potenza runflats. They informed me that the front tyres were not runflats, the back ones are as they were replaced when I bought the vehicle.

Contacted dealer I bought the car off, (non bmw) they don't want to know, simply said they can't cover tyres, even though I've only done 1000 miles and the tyres were ok when I bought it.

Getting alignment checked on sat morning?

any one else had this?

They do that on the 3 series, how many miles do you think they've covered? there are lots of posts on here about the subject.

not sure what mileage these tyres have done, I didn't notice much wear on the inside when I bought it, and only done 1000, maybe 1500 miles since then, maybe it's becasue they are non runflats why they have worn quicker?

can the camber be adjusted to bring the toe back in a little to prolong the tyres?

The previous owner may have had the toe changed along with fitting the current tyres, to get rid of outside wear on the run-flats. Front outside wear is common without any alignment error. But tyre shops just love to change settings, "it's your tracking mate", sometimes without the knowledge of how tyres will wear, even when in tolerance.

ive had the dreaded inside wear on 2 sets of rear tyres (bridgestones) but none at all on the fronts never had the tracking checked either as i dont think that is the problem with the rears and dont want to waste £200!

for rears mate, not fronts.

Fronts should not do it. Alighment issue.

I'd agree with Carl on this,never had a problem with the front tyres, but the rears,well,books have been written about that problem!

OK - mines a 330d e90 - not 335 e92

I had serious outside edge wear problems on the front. No problems at all on the rear. A Hunter realignment showed front wheel alignment within tolerance. The front alignment was adjusted to be still within tolerance but compensating for outside edge wear. I changed the RFTs for non RFTs and no problems since.

well i'll get the alignment setup, not the £200 quid one though, mate owns tyre fitting company that has laser alignment so will check it and see if it's out, anyone know what the tolerance for e91 should be? so far only found for the e92 on here?
