More BMW's on Auto-trader then other manufactures? - WHY

Why are their so many BMW's cars on auto-trader uk for sale in comparison to Mercedes and Audi. Must be a reason for this, what are the factors here, value, spec, ...?

BMW - 24281
Mercedes - 16608
Audi - 15220
Lexus - 2488

just a bit puzzled, can some one enlighten me please,

Because there are more BMW's that have been built and sold - simple really - remember the 3 series alone outsold most cars in its size at various times in its production!

Now I don't know the real statistics on Fleet sales, but I'd take a guess at BMW out leasing all the other manufacturers/competitors.

You've hit the nail on the head I reckon. My Dad discovered this when his company were in the market for a few lease cars. BMW using their own finance etc to push the car sales and back then residuals were good, but that's since changed apparently.

Also if you narrow it down to newer and specific engine sizes, it alters the figures again. And the other marques are often traded within the trade to other dealers without being advertised - not sure why, just something a dealer told me once, especially Mercs for some reason.

Hi

Look at the number of ranges and variations of cars that BMW have compared to the others. Drive down any motorway and look for a BMW - they are everywhere.

I also reckon that BMW's make sense - hence the high sales:

- the MPG is good
- road tax is low
- the image is improving
- they are reasonably priced with regard to servicing
- residuals are better than Audi's
