V12 diesel in a car?

As some of you will know the Audi Q7 (not my thing) is available with a 6 litre V12 diesel engine producing 500 PS and 1000 NM of torque from 1,750 rpm shifting 2.5 tonnes + of metal to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds etc, etc.

Curious to know why this engine isn't in a saloon/coupe etc car. Is it the sheer size and weight of the engine or what, or would all that torque mean the various 'cycle' parts would have to be so beefed up it would be too expensive?

The Q7 is an eye watering £98k + OTR.........but you get ceramic discs as standard.

Any other car would disintegrate as soon as you gave it full poke!

Too heavy for a small ish Coupe deffo.

In a mid engined supercar like the Concept V12 diesel it would work well with that massive torque.
