RFT's tyre pressure.
Hi all - what should be the ideal tyre pressure for RFT's on MV3 alloys. The car is a Saloon, if that makes any difference.
The other question I have is about the Side mirrors. From what I can tell, mine has some sort of motor inside the mirrors - but there's no button inside to retract them. I've read on past threads that holding the 'lock' button should do the trick - but it doesn't work. Could it be a fuse? I would read the manual - but the dealer accidentally provided me with a 2006 coupe manual ! thanks. |

My car is also on RFT MV3's - my door sticker reccommends 2.3 Bar (front) and 2.7 Bar (rear) however these ratings are too high IMO - when i ran these pressures my car felt vey soft and 'floaty' - almost like it was gliding on top of the road as opposed to on the road.
At autobahn speeds it was terrible and gave me no confidence at higher speeds. I messed about with my pressures for a few months and the ideal pressures for me are 2.2 Bar (F) and 2.4 (R). This provides a much more planted feel at all speeds and makes the car feel 100 x better on the autobahn - the difference was night and day. Many other members on this forum are running similar tyre pressures to mine............the interesting thing is that the USA manual reccommends 2.2 F and 2.4 R with their 'sport package' 335i. My car now has 10K miles and all of the tyres have worn extremely well and evenly. I would also reccommend buying a tyre pressure guage as many petrol garage guages are not calibrated regularly and can be out by some distance. I use this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Michelin-Dig...5603527&sr=8-1 Try these pressures out and see what you think -what works for one person may not be good for everyone. |

Thanks SS - It's just that I'm doing a test on my wheels at the moment. I've got a tyre pressure warning light on the dash - but when I checked the tyre pressure - they were are even. So I've pumped them up to the max bar and I'll be checking them on Saturday to see if there is a problem - or it's just the sensor playing up. I know what you mean by floaty - mine's like a blinking ship at the moment! haha

I'm still running the Bridgestones on 18" MV3s (330D M sport). According to the plate, mine should be 39-42 PSI front (2.7 - 2.9 bar) and 42-48 PSI rear (2.9 - 3.3 bar) between normal and full load.
I normally keep mine at 40 PSI front, 45 PSI rear, as I'm concerned about uneven tread wear on the rears. Feels OK to me. |
