Mtec vs. RDash License Plate Lights

As some of you guys might know, Mtec has come out with a new LED license plate light for E9x models. And I have by chance access to both Racing Dash and Mtec lights so I figure why not do a comparison of both of them.

The packaging and the quality of the Mtec lights are really top notch. The housing feels weighted and the casing seems to be able to withstand a nuclear bomb attack or something....

So I went ahead and install both on my E90 (2006) and took a couple pictures.

As you guys can see in the first picture, the light output of the Mtec is ridiculous. The light is pure white with NO hint of blue at all, and then you can see those little "blue streak" coming from the RDash light (yellow arrow). Now I have to be fair and say those streaks are not that visible when you see the lights in person, but I just want to point it out the difference.

The light output from Mtec is really very uniform and very crisp. The Mtec lights are 2W by the way, if that matters for those of you who wonders.

Oh and please understand that I am not here to bash the RDash license plate light though since I know the RDash lights are cheaper and I am aware that not everyone is willing to shell out big bucks for this mod.

those light streaks bothered me too!! it screams "I put in new bulbs" instead of "OEM" like the lexus ones.

How much are the mtec ones?

Mtec def looks brighter but in that pic i like the rdash's color a little better

^^ These Mtec lights are the brightest ones I have seen so far for E9x guaranteed. The color is close to pure white without any hint of blue. Some people will like that and some won't.
