If you are going to Monaco, I'd recommend heading North towards Sospel and then driving up the Col de Torini. This road is about 24kms long and is hairpin after hairpin. Has featured in the Tour de France and rally stages from the Group B days.

Also I'd strongly recommend the Route de Napoleon (heading South). Best bet is to pick this up after Grenoble and head down towards Sisteron and then shoot off towards Monaco (personally, I would only spend one night in Monaco as once you've driven the F1 circuit it's a bit dull).

If you want to avoid Gendarmes and, ahem, really stick it to your 335i, I'd get up into the Haut Var. Very light traffic compared with the coast and mile after mile of driving heaven :0)

Enjoy!!!

Its not really a great circuit, but has shades of the 'ring in that there is an older longer mostly disused 5 mile circuit, that like the 'ring was taken off the F1 circuit for safety reasons (driver hit in eye with stone).
More trivia - turns out the guy I mentioned above who was hit in the eye by a stone in 1972 - leading to the end of the F1 GP at Charade - was none other than Dr Helmut Marko. Never heard of him? Neither had I, but apparently he's the Red Bull guy who said Webber was in the wrong at the Turkish GP last weekend.

Our old bike trip route used to be over to Calais, thrash through Northern France, keep North of Paris, head over East towards Metz, head down to Chambery then get into the Alps, we rode out to Val D'Isere & Tignes, which if you've been in the winter is great to visit in the summer.

Over a 10,000ft pass - stop for a snowball fight at the top - can't remember the name, but then pick up route Napoleon - absoluely awesome all the way to Cannes.

Then Monaco for a quick visit.

Then back Saint Tropez for 3 days R&R surrounded by the Beautiful People.

Head out to Gorge Du Verdon for a day trip, very spectacular and some great gorge side roads.

Finally either a blast straight back up the peage to Calais (600+ miles)

Or Travel back up the West coast if you have the time.

France is the most beautiful country - you need to take several trips to even begin and get to know it (i don't yet!)

The Mrs and I took the 1er down to Bergerac / Dordogne /Bordeaux last August - it is so unbelievable gorgeous down there, we loved it and will be going back again this year.

I drove all the way back in one stint but seriously wouldnt recommend it!

We stayed at some very nice places, booked thru www.mrandmrssmith.com, check out Chateau les Merles if you are going down there.

Aha.. I had that last year but nobody believed me.
I dont read a lot of French, is the sign just to embarrass the plate owner to slow down then or is there more to them?
Steve.

check out some routes on porsche tour. Ive gone with them a couple of times and the roads they choose are awesome! the should have pdf's on the site

http://www.porsche.com/latin-america...dventuretours/

this one in particular was loads of fun:

http://www.porsche.com/latin-america.../tourprovence/

it includes Col de Turini run which is breathtaking! you can have lunch at the top and admire tons of pictures of rally legends.

and Im pretty sure you will score some major points with the missus
by booking Le Château du Domaine St. Martin for a night ;]

as a personal favourite I can recomend this road. might not be on the way exactly but totaly worth it:
