Just bought some Thule bars and carriers from these chaps:

I went for the Freeride 530. The crash test videos on youtube are worth a look:

I guess I'll have to put the bike racks on the opposite way round to each other to avoid a handlebar clash and keep the bikes closer together to fit the roof box on as well.
You don't need to reverse the bikes, Just slightly offset their position so that the bars don't clash.

What item number is your fork mount rack? I like the full slot and the the little ramp in the back for the wheel. The one shown on bmwusa's website (racing cycle holder, 82 72 0 393 083) looks like a lame two piece set.

To reiterate point 2 in my answer on page 1 of this thread:
When re-handing the LH rack to face forwards with the lock wheel outboard, it is automatically positioned about 2" ahead of the RH unit, thus avoiding handlebar clash.
Having fitted the racks to my E92, there would be no possibility of normal length handlebars clashing with two bikes positioned outboard and, as already mentioned, in that configuration there's room for a narrow roof box in-between.
If you plan on carrying more than 2 bikes you'll have to alternately face them forwards and rearwards.
I recently made a trip of 90+ miles in lashing rain and high winds. I was initially a little cautious, but my confidence built with the miles and I'm very happy with the Thule system.
