how would this new phone effect the BMW software bus on the drive, I can only assume their will be 1. new snap in adapter 2. new update for idrive 3. ??????? 4. ......... 5. ??????? How will this new Apple revelation impact you, if you just brought a car or thinking to buy a car or have a very nice car. |

I have been waiting for this. How did you find out this info? I know Steve Jobs was going to announce this today but I can't find any official info on the net? I am pretty sure the connection should be the same, but snap in adapter will have to be changed. Can't wait. I will be camping out for this one.

Do you have a previous version of the iPhone? Thats how Apple work - release hardware thats sub-standard vs the competition, then release an updated version so that people can upgrade. Even now, iPhone 4 has only just caught up with such radical leaps of technology like high res screens and a front camera. Staggering. One day they'll even make one that lets you multi-task!

i used to think iPhones were a bit crappy, and until i used one for something other than "lets just have a play" that remained... the day i needed to find out some train times and looking up something on google maps (plus streetview) that changed.. on the other side of the coin, the devices themselves are absolutely gorgeous and that is certainly another tick in the box for me. however, i will fully reserve judgement until i have seen this one 'in the flesh' Last edited by BGM; 06-07-2010 at 05:53 PM.. |

I get the Apple design ethos - they build beautiful devices. I just struggle with the closed OS and hardware (why can't I swap batteries or use flash memory cards instead of paying Apple a bomb for built-in memory?). I've had a play with several iPhones and yes, its eye-candy. But so is Android or Windows running HTC Sense. And they allow me to do radical shocking things like look up train times or use maps whilst on a call or texting.
So its not the hardware I have trouble with - I can think of a stack of phones made by everyone else I don't personally like. Proprietary OS running on Korean phones for example are appalling. The difference is that those products aren't hyped as the new messiah. |

They are offering a free iSO4 software update http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/softwareupdate/
iOS 4 works with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G. Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking is available only with iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. Thank Christ I have the 3GS then |

Same here - 3GS will do multi-tasking, at least if the new phone is just too damn expensive, I can have the look and feel of the new iOS4 on my old gen phone. Just hope it does'nt kill the battery too quick as that is supposedly why it was never implemented in the first place.
