I've been searching this forum for a problem I'm having with my 2005 320i 6 speed manual but I haven't found quiet the same topic and hence I'm starting a new thread.

There are a number of posts regarding a ticking noise the BMWs make as you drive but my car only makes a rattling noise on take off and last for about 2-3 seconds. It never used to make the noise until recently, I've tried looking under the hood for any loose parts and at the exhaust but have had no luck.

It sounds as if the noise is coming from the left hand side of the engine bay near the wheel (right hand drive). The noise is similar to when you are about to stall the car or when you drive slow in a higher gear and the car stutters.
