I will be taking delivery of my 325i with sport package around Xmas time. I will have to look at purchasing some winter tires/wheels.

Where I live we may only get a few days of snow and that is it, mostly rain in the winter. My sales rep has advised me that he recommends I still get winter tires just in case of icy road conditions. He said that the sports tires don't do well on ice or snow.

Pay heed to what your dealer says, SPORTS TIRES ARE NO GOOD IN SNOW AND ICE. I cannot emphasize that enough, and snow or ice turns your car into a very expensive tobbogan with less control.

Without all-season or snow tires, I'd walk before driving. I'm serious, it's that bad.

If you are in Victoria, I would suggest you don't need winter (snow) tires. But if you want to drop $2000, its your call. Save the cash, and drive accordingly in wet conditions.
