Advice on what to do with hood
So a couple months ago I got some dents on my hood. Long story short their insurance finally paid out and I got the full amount I got quoted from the BMW dealer which is just under $1000.
Now to me that sounds a bit pricey considering I got a whole new rear bumper for about that much. I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket hood, but all I have seen are CF and kinda crazy looking. I would just want something as close to stock as possible with maybe only subtle changes like the M3 hood. I would also like to get the aero lip since my stock lip is kinda banged up. What would you guys recommend and do you think that's a high quote on fixing the hood dents? (will post pics when I get home). |

Well the guy said it was so much because its an aluminum hood and the labor rate on aluminum work was higher or it was harder to fix aluminum or something like that. Aslo because it was on a body line they said the labor would take longer. Will a stock M3 hood fit the 335?

Went to this place down the street from my house called Carsmetics and they quoted like $150 or something like that for the paint less dent removal. Which he said may or may not work based on the location of the dent. He said it may reduce the dent but if you know what you're looking for you may still be able to see it.
He said the full body work process with paint and all that would be like $500. That's about half what the dealer quoted me... what do you guys thing? Has anyone tried this place seems to be a chain of some kind? My thinking is try the paintless and if I don't like the result do the full thing. He said the cost for the full body work would be less if the paint less method got it closer so I wouldnt really be paying twice. Not sure but an extra $500 in my pocket means I'm doing some mods! |

Thought I would update this thread. So I was very reluctant to pay the $1k the dealer wanted and took it in to the Carsmetics place for the PDR. Honestly my hopes were not high and I was fully expecting to have to fork over the $500 for the full repair. Well I must say I was totally blown away. The PDR worked great! I will say it's not 100% maybe 95% and if you know what to look for and look very carefully you can still see a bit of the damage but I would say most people just looking at the car would never be able to tell anything happened. For $130 that works for me! Now I have extra cash for an mtech front or aero lip! Will probably take it to this place to paint and install since I'm very happy with the work they have done so far!
