Chilis Parking Lot theif, Westbury

I was just at chilis, in westbury when i came out my roof spoiler and my m3 trunk spoiler was stolen off my e90, so if you queens people think that your safer in long island, your very very wrong..

Wow, that's really unfortunate. I would've never thought something like that would happen in such a busy/visible parking lot.

I spoke to the manager of chilis, they do not have any kind of camera's outside of chilis or the parking lot.

I was parked 4 spaces from the front of chilis!@!!

Somehow i think if i were ripping off peoples cars there i'd be caught..

somehow..

Wow, I go there a decent amount. And I park far off because I know how people park and drive there...

Sounds like more of a freak occurrence though.

Thats whats so surprising, a lot of people i know go there and they think their car is always safe...

The part that gets me is there's no cameras...

You're basically putting 1 and 1 together to make 2 right there. It's assumed that it's safe, so there's no need for cameras...

it is such a brightly lit parking lot, with a fair amount of foot traffic with people in and out of the restaurants.

How long does it usually take to remove those items from a car? There are plenty of stories of this happening.

Maybe it is a sign to just go for CSL style trunk.

I would think it only takes a few seconds to rip those taped on pieces off. My friend got his M3 lip ripped off in broad daylight at the College Point Multiplex (even with security patrolling) -- the crook used a key to dig up the spoiler...

Anyway, even if the parking lot is well lit with enough in and out traffic, who would actually be able to differentiate a criminal stealing something off the car as opposed to the actual car's owner removing something off the car? It all looks the same. It would be another story if someone was trying to break in, but then how do you know it's not the owner of the car who got locked out?

Either way, lesson learned -- don't take "safe" parking for granted because theft can happen anywhere.

Really sorry to hear about this. I always park over there or at the movie theater and the though of this happening is always in the back of my mind. My wife says I worry too much....but I love my car!

thanks guys, my car looks so dam naked without those pieces, i guess its because i'm so used to seeing it with it ..

I might bite the bullet and reorder them, this time around maybe i'll use the beta link from bmw to keep it on as well as the double sided tape..

no paint came off, i think its because just double sided tape was used..

If glue or silicone was used i think there would be damages..
