CPO 3 Series Convertible - problems after 3 weeks

Hi,

I purchased a CPO 3 series convertible 3 weeks ago. This past weekend I went on trip and had some issues.

My car: 2007 328i Convertible - Purchased with 17,800 miles on May 31, 2010

1) Leather seats (red) are staining light colored clothing
2) Indicator light came on showing I had a daytime running lamp out
3) When driving with the top up, the roof rattles quite bad every time I hit any sort of bump, pot hole, etc.
4) Service Engine Soon light is now on
5) Roof leaks - After returning home from my trip, I ran through an automatic car wash. Everything was fine until the wash was on the driver side of the car - water then came in where the top meets the windshield. Not just a few drips, quite a bit. Same thing occurred on the passenger side when the water was spraying directly at the side of the car.

I had an 08 3 series sedan that I had great luck with and loved. I hoped for the same with the new car, but perhaps even more love since it's also a convertible. With the seats staining clothing, rattling top and now leaking, I'm a little concerned.

Will BMW address these issues since I have had the car for such a short period of time? The fog light I'm not concerned with, that's an easy fix.

Has anyone else had problems with the leather staining clothing?

Any help or suggestions would be great!!
Thanks!

Iv got the coral red leather in my E92 and have not had any problem with my clothing. I understand that the E93's interior is treated with something that prevents the leather from burning people when they sit down. this my have something to do with it, seeing as how this is the only difference i can think of. Also, they only way i'd see that happening is if the person is perspiring a bit and their clothing is damp.
At almost 18k miles, it may be time for a servicing. that may be the reason for the SES light. Possibly an oil change? Check the lights at night and make sure everything is functioning properly. Is it a DRL or fog? As for the roof- unfortunately a leaky roof is something that comes with a convertible. It could be just a seal of something along those lines. Your CPO- don't sweat it and call the dealer. Don't let these thing discourage you- you've got an entire summer ahead of you to have the top down.

1 - what the previous poster said, the convertible seats are somehow "different" to be cooler in the sun, this is an advertised feature, but I've never heard of them staining clothing before.

2+4 - I assume you're still under factory warranty (48 months/50K miles), have a dealer look at these.

3+5 - This is just life with a convertible, hard or soft top... to enjoy the pleasure of top-down motoring, there are compromises with the top up. While you're having a dealer looking at 2+4 you may mention the top is noisy when up and see if they can check it out, but I wouldn't expect much here. There are noise issues with the E46 soft-top convertibles that are fixed by lubricating the tops of the windows, not sure if this would help with a folding hardtop. But convertibles have never done well in automatic car washes, I wouldn't expect a folding hardtop to be impervious either. Use the DIY/manual sprayer bays and don't shoot directly at the seals... my 2c

good luck.

It looks as though you should be under a full factory warranty based on time, so there's no reason why all of the issues wouldn't be looked at. Fixed would be another story if your dealership is like mine. I'd suggest a road test with a shop foreman as far as any rattling goes. The staining of clothing would be a weird one, did they apply some sort of conditioner to it or something? It'd be hard to make a case to replace the interior, not sure what else could be done...

The staining of the clothing sounds like the dealer put something on the seats to make em shinier or whatever for the CPO sale, and that's either dissolving the dye, or coming off itself.

Or the seat was redyed. BMW factory leather does not bleed.

+1 manual even says not to use the automated car wash - they all seem to leak in that spot with a little pressure, I even get a few drips if I hit it with the hose just right!
