*SIGH* Might just settle for Alpine over Red/Black

My Dealer still doesn't have a 335i to sell me, I've contacted a few other dealerships and it seems to be the same story. So Ordering the E92 of my dreams might put me out till August September for delivery....

OR

A customer canceled his 335i Coupe, Alpine White over Red and Black with Brushed Ally trim, and pretty well loaded like what I was after. Difference is that I should be able to get a hold of this one right at the end of the month early next month...

But I didn't really want White... And the White over the Red-N-Black is kinda... Well, Pimp. But What the hell, I am only leasing the car will perform the same, and it's still a good looking machine in white.

So why not?

Some Dark Tint, and Dark Wheels should help right? Should I go for it, or dig in my heals and camp out? Thoughts?

OH and My Opinions of White over Red-N-Black are my own. Not meant as a slight to any AW owners. I just tend towards darker tones.

I'll tell you what, I ordered my car 2 days ago, and my delivery is expected in early to mid may. If my CA calls and says I have a White E90 on beige/black, with most of your options, I'd still wait... my car is my car. PLus waiting is fun too! You get to feel like your car is being SPECIALLY built for you, which it is. You never get to brag about that with a lot car.

P.S. I see you want Montego, as do I. The amount of people breaking their necks to look at our vehicles wil be well worth it, trust me!

If you don't really like the color, you will be unhappy with the car from day one. Order one today and wait 6-8 weeks. You will have EXACTLY the car you want and you won't have to settle. I know I would not be happy with a color I didn't like or want. You won't be sorry.

It's apparantly not as simple as just ordering my car. That's the problem, seems that there is a problem with allocations. Dealer cannot even get it ordered right now. It's just sitting at the dealership. So it "Might" be ordered at the end of the Month, or I might end up NOT getting a 335i at all. At least from the sounds of it.

If I had an order that was actually submitted, in the system and I had a build date???? That's one thing, but I cannot get that even. So it seems as though I might want to latch onto the White one, cause at least it's inbound, and I can have one.

It's about the performance and enjoyment of the drive more than the looks but yeah looks play a part so I dunno...

Like I said, if I actually had a date, if the dealer could say "It will be in production on the 15th of May? SOMETHING like that??? Then I'd be all over it, I could camp out no worries, but what I am hearing is that they don't know when they will have a production slot or whatever it is...

So yeah...

Don't settle. Try another dealer if that's an option. A car is not like a shirt that wasn't exactly the color that you wanted but you thought it looked good in the store but when you brought it home it wasn't and you wind up putting it in the back of your closet and never wearing it.

Hmm, I think the key here is that I LEASING... If I was buying I wouldn't really consider settling. But seeing as it's a lease seems like a reasonable compromise, with the car being built pretty much as I ordered mine accept for colors...

We'll see. When I head down there and look at it face 2 Face I might just walk away. I do have that kind of will power, I've learned not to accept things just because, but I will accept a reasonable compromise.

Thanks for the thoughts folks...

Any possibility that the dealer could do a dealer trade? I know there are not many 335i coupes sitting around, but your dealer will have access to see what incoming 335i are coming to the US and a few might not be spoken for. I can't believe that EVERY 335i coming to the US is an ordered car.

Well, you could order from another dealer and get a courtesy delivery, or you could do ED and get the car you want since it doesn't come out of their allocation. Just a couple more ideas. I definitely think you should get the car you want. Don't settle.

As tempting as it is to tell you how great AW is, if that isn't what you want you shouldn't settle for it. Have you tried other dealers?

I keep hearing you bring up the word "compromise". Regardless on whether it is a lease or you are financing it, you are still spending your money, so you should not have to compromise. Yeah, you are going to have to wait a while to get it, but at least it will be the one that you want.

Besides, when you order it, you can always use this board for bitching on how long it takes, and it will be that much more sweeter when you do take delivery of it.

That is the car Eric has at Supreme Power Parts in SoCal. Looks a bit wild for my taste...but still done very well.
