Lack of A2DP profile in bluetooth.

Such a bummer about lack of A2DP support in bluetooth!

Seems like this would be so easy to implement. Any workarounds aside from using something through the Aux port? Any word on a possible software upgrade that would support this?

Remember, the Bluetooth connectivity extends only to the TCU anyway. So having A2DP wouldn't help until BMW does something with a platform like Microsoft's Automotive (which Ford deployed in their Sync product -very cool btw).

You could plug an A2DP adapter into the aux port, but that's only helpful if your phone supports multiple bluetooth partners (HFP with the car, A2DP with your adapter). Mine don't

You could add a carkit that supports A2DP, or replace your head unit with one that supports HFP and A2DP. There's obviously an audio link of some kind between the TCU and the stereo but I wouldn't hold my breath about a software update. The best-case scenario as far as I could tell would be to retrofit a newer TCU, which would probably be all kinds of painful.
