Are dealers in our area typically cool with the DCI/CAI’s?

I had a CAI on my STI and honestly, after a while I was kind of annoyed by it, but may consider doing one on this car (the bimmer seems to have a lot quieter of a cabin, haha). So, that begs the question for me, do the local dealers give a crap about a stupid intake? I know with some dealers (regardless of car make), it can be a “big deal” while other’s could care less.

What’s been your guys experience, and what is the typical whp gain, 10-15whp or so? Or could it be more with tuning/PSI increases?

Thanks,

John

I have been to two dealerships and they didnt mind it. Also there a decent mod for a little hp, and makes the car sound great. The only issue with me is that it sits in the engine bay, but there hasnt been that many other intakes out there. But for the money its good

Putting the intake on an untuned car gives little HP gain (<5hp), but the more you up the psi in your tune, the more you gain opposed to having a stock intake.

Dealers are generally OK with them on; unless you come in for a big problem...

/EDIT/ I've noticed better engine response on the highway having the intake scoops on as well. I would highly recommend getting those too.

interesting - kyle, those scoops really do something?!?! I thought they seemed like a gimmick or something.

Thats cool on the dealers then, maybe I will go DCI's down the line.

Yeah, I noticed that after some high speed driving with them on, my dual cone air filters were cooler than when they were off.

Yeah...you get alot of heat soak because of where they are situated. Therefore anything that can get cool air back there helps. The effect of the scoops may be minimal but they do help. Unfortunately, they only help at speeds high enough to really jam air back there.

To answer the op - Gus at Knauz has never said a word about my (Kyle's old) cone filters.
