I added a quarter of a quart b/c my oil level was below the halfway point btw min and max after the install. After adding it was above the midway point. I wish we had a dipstick. I hate that system.
I would actually recommend dropping the oil before installing if you're near time for an oil change. Kill two birds and there would be less mess. |

I got mine installed at cp-e on Saturday. I asked Josh about the oil capacity, and he said I should stick with the standard 7 quarts.
But they did top off my oil after the install because they spilled quite a bit while connecting the hoses. |

Thanks for the writeup. This looks like a mod I'd be very interested in when I start modding at some point. Happy to support a local shop as well, I've heard lots of good things about CP-E from many car communities (BMW, Mazda, etc).
Boom, you don't happen to work at Indian Head NSWC do you? From your screen name, I'd say you work at one of the bases around here lol. If you're local, I'd love to check out the IC/OC sometime. What color is your car? |

CP-E intercooler is quite nice , oil cooler is okay, but it doesn't fit automatic gearbox cars. but after i've spent more than hundred dollars to get the outlets (both of them) rewelded) i was said "well it's a pity you didn't want to return for exchange. we could send you the improved one". exchange my a** :-/ freight forward cost me 80 bucks just to get it there + twenty for customs.
other than that it's quite a competing product with nice welds and a good oil cooler mount. View post on imgur.com |

Looks great but I just realized that you need the factory oil cooler IOT connect the lines.
Am I correct? My build date is 11/06 and I don't have an oil cooler, and was looking at getting a CP-E to fix that. |

Sort of two oil coolers. The cp-e one is an inline cooler that runs to the stock oil cooler. It allows more cooling surface area when the oil thermostat opens when the car starts to get hotter. Basically it brings the oil temps back down faster after spirted driving

Seeing that you buy them together, if you wanted to, could you fab something up to mount the OC up higher like AR does, for more air flow, and for heat soak to the IC like some are worried about.

There is no heat soak issue with the intercooler from the oil cooler. First of all radiant heat goes up. Yes they are attached but since the oil cooler only sees oil through it when the thermostat opens and then it stops seeing flow when oil temp drops again. Since air is CONSTANTLY going through all the fins it cools back down REALLY quick so the heat soak issue from oil cooler is just not going to happen.

The airflow is very good...flows straight through it from the lower grills...my oil temps don't get over 240 now most of the time and my FMIC is working really well...i still need to get a log but having vanos issues lately...
