Issue with B&M shifter install

Hoping someone has run into this issue during their install and can give me some advice.

I can't for the life of me get the ball-clamp onto the B&M shifter pivot cup.

Here are the instructions I'm following.

Step 9. Place ball-clamp onto B&M shifter pivot cup. Align so that tabs of the ball-clamp are underneath the B&M logo.

It's a tight fit and I can't seem to open the ball-clamp far enough to get the B&M pivot cup inside.

Gotten this taken care of. Was a pain, but I just had to force it on with my hands.
