Why is it so hard to choose rims

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I am having one hell of a time choosing what rims I want originally started with some HRE's but then the price in Canada is outrageous so I changed to gold dpe s-20's, then alot of people have been talking me out of gold, so I went with black. Now i'm stuck my car is gonna be a AW e92 335i coupe with coral red.

I love the CSL reps, but don't know think they will look that great on AW, which is the same for BBS ch's.

So help me out. Make some suggestions and even post some pics if you can.

This is very frustrating it was alot easier choosing them for the G35 cause there we so many pics available.

hey, whats up. I was in the same exact boat is you and I got the CSL reps a few days ago and put them on yesterday. I was shocked when they were put on. It looks 100% better than I thought. Pictures dont do them justice. they look phenominal!!!!I dont have pics yet but I will this weekend. I got non M3 offsets with 15mm spacers and again, it looks perfect!!! I highly recommend them.

Drew,

We have some AW E92 pictures so we can do some photoshops for you to make your deciding process a bit easier. We have done many photoshops for customers and it definitely helped them a lot.

Drew...IMHO, the CSL replicas look great on any vehicle. CHeck out CSLs on AW here:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49931

But if I were you, I'd get the forged CSL replica wheels that is on the groupbuy:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49864

The group buy is about to close...one more space. It will be a great value for what you're getting.

If you want something cheaper...you need to buy something cast. The ASA AR-1s are very popular too and look good on any vehicle...as would Beyern Mesh, if you want a staggered lip setup. Since you AW you could look into getting black or hyper black rims. I don't like how they look on dark cars, but on AW, they would look very slick.

I think you need to make the following decisions first to narrow it down:

1) forged or cast (i.e. price budget)
2) lip or concave
3) black/hyper black/silver

check out this thread for more ideas:

These would look sweet on AW. And the red trim would match your leather.

Well price is not really an issue the price of DPE's doesn't scare me, I have around 14k I wanna put into the car.

I love the concave look, but don't feel the concaves are deep enough on any of the rims I have seen on the forum.

I really like the polished lip look but I just can't decide which color I want on the inside Black or Gold.

Ok let's stick with forged and concave.

Next question. Would you be willing to roll your fenders?

Take a look at the concavity in these posts:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=BBS+CH+inch
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=195

These are probably max you can get. Also the forged CSL will be just like the OEM CSLs and will have a concavity to them as well.

(Sorry should mention the BBS CHs are not forged but cast)

yep I would roll the fenders in a heart beat, as far as the concave on the white I just don't think that the regular silver rims sets off the car enough, Lewis has sent me some emails with the dpe's in different colors, i'm pretty sure i will go with the s-20's. Now I just have to decide on the color I will go with.

Just ordered a Procede lol, damn thursday night drinking club. It always ends up costing me more than the booze alone.

So why not just stick with the black S-20's? I mean, I'm biased, but I think they will look pretty incredible on AW. Lemme do a quick chop.

Lewis from MW sent me photochops they look pretty damn good. I like the chrome black personally what does everyone else think.

Pics are Chrome, matte, black out, and black out with red to match the interior.

I love the chrome shadow and matte black with polished lip. I am not a huge fan of black out (just imo). On AW if it were me I'd probably go mattle black, but chrome shadow will look killer too.

And ya, I hear you on the bbk. It's like this horrible mod, taunting me with it's uselessness, expense, and beauty.

Are you getting 20's or 19's, and which tires? I don't think it should be 8k for 19" wheels/tires, but for 20's maybe.

BBK front and rear will be ~6k CAD ya, unless you get a great deal or find one used.

Yeah getting 20's, 8k isn't too bad with tires, tax and shipping I guess. Twice as much as my Axis Matrix 20's for the G35, but still way cheaper than the HRE's I priced out.

I don't think i will ever do a BBK can't really justify it at all, I can convince myself that rims are ok, but the BBK thats a whole other ball game, I would have to do alot of lieing

Well i've made my choice this morning, now what does everyone think I should do for tire sizes 235/30/20 F 285/25/20 R was recommended. But remember the Dpe's have custom offsets.

What sizes are you going, 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear? If so, those sizes sound about right. I'd probably go 245 in the front, so 245/30/20, 285/25/20. That puts you're rolling diameter ~.4" up, which isn't too bad. 235 front will work too.
