BMW Used Car Warranty - Any Good?
Hi all,
Picking up a 335d msport tomorrow... (more on that in a later post!!) Have a quote for around £480 for comprehensive insurance on the car for a year which seems pretty damn good. Obviously you have to keep it serviced by BMW. (Note, i'm not buying the car via a 'main dealer' BMW showroom) Is it any good? Anyone had any good or bad experiences? Any info would be much appreciated. Regards, Ian |

Yeah lose the bolt-on and you drop a chunk of cash. Think mine ended up around £360ish with a £100 excess, which isn't bad peace of mind for a year when you look at it as a nugget a day.
That said, like any insurance it depends what they're like come pay-out time, but having tried Warranty Direct with the Golf they were pretty average with the one claim I made and BMW are cheaper! |

I took out an extended warranty on my 335d with emergency cover fully comp with a 250 excess for 340 for the year. Thought that was good. Wonder why that's cheaper than your quote.
Also with BMW extended warranty services. |

A complete waste of time since I needed a new water pump after I had it for a month. 8 hours labour! Just fighting with Tesco Warranty at the minute to pay up for a legitimate claim on my Touran. I'll be using BMW for my 320. |

think it's well worth it, just had my first warranty claim today, rear high level brake light became detached - and required rear windscreen replacing to fix.. cost of around £700 ish...
The way i see it if anything goes wrong it's not going to be the cheapest thing in the world to fix |

Defo worth it from my experience. Had an old E36 some years back and kept extending the warranty until it was about a grand then sold it. Every year it paid for itself when things like the aircon panel in the car went. They even covered a new battery as it was the original factory fitted one that had gone

Briers - Your excess will make it cheaper than mine, I took a view that I'd rather drop the full emergency cover than get rinsed for an extra £150 on every job I needed doing. YMMV, but as you say it's pretty good either way.
Boyd - Spot on the same experience that I found, which is why I was fairly non-plussed about the whole experience with them. |

Whats the outfit that Quentin Wilson advertises again?
Sliding scale and assorted options, looked decent when I got a quote last. And if you hang out for a month or two they started emailing me better offers and discounts! |
