Help me decide on my next wheel please!
So I have been running Matte Black VMR V710's with White Pinstrip for the last 6 months and need something new.
My basis is: V710's are too common, a little too heavy for my needs and I really just want something new. So my requirements are a wheel weight of below 24lbs, would love to hit around the 20-21lb mark for a 19" wheel though. I have alot of CF accents (including roof) on my AW E92 335 so I really feel like I should stick to the aggressive (Matte Black or Darker colored wheel) but any suggestions are apprecaited. I prefer deep concavity but could go for a deep lip as long as it was not chrome (preferably Gloss Black or Alpine White painted Lip) Price range is between $2,500 - $4,000 max. (i know this is a wide range, BUT for $4,000 it would need to be pretty damn special and light-weight too) So far my options in mind are the following choices below in a 19 x 9 front (M3 offset) and 19 x 10 rear (M3 offset). DPE SL5 in Matte Black with Gloss Black Lip (possible White PinStripe) ADVAN RS-D in Matte Black with Gloss Black Lip (if possible) VMR V713 in Matte Black with White Pin-Strip (basically close to weight and style I have now, so wouldnt be much of a change) All opinions and suggestions are wlecomed....also if you have another idea for a color scheme change (keeping in mind I have a hell of alot of CF pieces on an Apline White car. Thanks! Last edited by Hyper psi-atic; 06-28-2010 at 09:57 AM.. Reason: Mispelled word in title. |

If you're looking for a wheel that's a great value and lightweight, check out the Forgestar F14 Wheels!

Any of your choices seem like good ones.
Gunmetal wheels may bring out the grey and black accents of the carbon fiber on your car. I can't find any pictures of your car so it's hard to say for sure. Did you see this thread BTW? http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265756 Pretty informative in regards to weight. Personally I like oem 18" M3 Style 260. But those may be a little small for you. I like meat on my rims. Good luck with your choice.

Forgestars are nice too, but coming from V710's I'm trying to switch it up a lil bit from the CSL or Mesh look, but thanks for the input! |

Thanks for hooking it up Eddie!
Now the waiting game begins..... If anyone is looking for Advans, Eddie @ **********s is the man. Very responsive and found questions to all my answers over a weekend so that I could order today. Damn I waited less time for my car to be built than my new wheels though....how will I pass the time? |

ADV.1 makes beautiful wheels but you can't beat Advan's performance functionability and weight

Once you take rotational mass into effect, running the Advans over the DPE i'm looking at rotational weight savings of close to 112lbs total. That good for a couple tenths off my 0-60 hopefully. |

Your wheels are going to look absolutely insane! Just make sure to put up the photos here when you get them installed! Quote:
The Advans are made using the newest manufacturing processes and their designs are all about saving weight. Plus, their designs are very BBK friendly. We've fitted 380mm Brembo Big Brake Kits on the Advan RS models with NO issues! |

Also what pads come with the Brembos? Are they suitable out the box for some aggressive track days or would I need to switch them up for hard driving? I've heard a few horror stories of drilled rotors cracking with some pads. |

The Brembos come with an organic Ferodo pads that suitable for aggressive street driving and light track duty.
As for rotors cracking, you don't need to worry about that with true BBK setups since they have full floating rotor designs and deal with thermal expansion MUCH better than a 1-piece rotor setup that has the rotor face and hat all as one unit. If you're SERIOUS about driving, go with the slotted versus drilled. You rarely see race cars running anything other than slotted rotors. |
