How to tell if warranty is voided?
Hey guys, just looked at a 335i today. I'm wondering if theres any way to tell if the warrranty is voided due to mods from the PO? Would a carfax reveal the truth?

Hey can anyone answer my previous question above??
Also, if I were to go with a close friend who has a dealers license to purchase a car at an auction, providing the carfax checks out and mileage/year requirements are met, does it still have the standard factory warranty? |

I don't think Carfax will reveal such a thing...correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to find out is to have a BMW service center run the VIN in their system (or through the key fob) to check the records.
As for your second question, if the car is within the factory warranty period (4 years, 50,000 miles), then yes - the car would still be under the standard factory warranty. |

+1. You need to get that information from a friendly BMW Service Advisor. Also, just because the car’s warranty isn’t voided yet, doesn't mean there isn’t a “red flag” in the car’s maintenance file (e.g. if BMW knows the car had an aftermarket tune). That’s why it’s disingenuous for sellers of (past or presently) tuned cars to advertise them as “still under warranty”. An aftermarket tune voids the engine/driveline warranty. Period.

call a dealer and give them the vin. any dealer should be able to answer but its best to contact the dealer that sold the car since it may have been serviced there.
