Exclamation E90 330i Induction kits

Can anyone help i want to put an induction kit on my 330i K&Ns 57i dosn't fit on the 330i the simata is around £450 & the gruppe m is around £900.
The people at cobra exhaustuk who made my custom quad exhaust said they can make one for me using stainless steel pipe work for between £95 & £110. Is this a good idea, could this screw my ecu senser up. opinion & advise please.

Firstly, this post has been moved to the UK Technical Section... please in future post in the appropriate areas

Secondly, I would heavily advise against getting a custom airbox made by people who think just a bit of stainless pipe will do the job. It won't, most of the time, as there will be little consideration to airflow and turbulence. Plus they would have to consider where to put the air filter, how to protect it from water ingress and excessive dirt, and also consider what it's going to sound like with stainless tubing.

To be honest, you're not going to get much power increase from an induction kit anyway on the 330i - you'll get an improvement in throttle response if the air intake is designed properly, and you'll get a nicer noise perhaps, but not much more than that. Don't think you'll see another 10hp for instance - you won't!

You are probably just as well getting an uprated panel filter from K&N and putting that in the standard airbox. Alternatively if you don't want to go to the extent of a GruppeM box, have you considered the BMW Performance option? Contact Anneka @ Sytner here on the forum for a price.

I looked into this for my 330i. Evolve had a good price on the Simota kit and I was quite tempted, but never got round to doing it.

The 330i has a lovely engine noise anyway.

I agree that a home made filter is not the way to go. I felt £400+ was way too much for an air filter, so I went with a k&n drop in filter instead. Check my review here...
