a pot hole can def cause the warning light to come on also i carry a tyre pressure gauge with me as if the light shows you cannot tell which tyre it refers to an electric pump is also a good idea as you can reflate the tyre thereby limiting any further damage.

If you have checked all the tyres, inflated them to the correct PSI and the warning light has come on and you've checked the pressures and they are all ok then there may be something more to it.
I had this a month ago were the tyre pressure light kept coming on but when I checked the pressures they were all as I left them but the car felt strange to drive, something had changed. I made sure the wheels were all on tight and the pressures were fine which eliminated the problem being wheel or tyre based. On taking it to BMW they said that an error had occurred once with the ABS wheel sensor but it had reset itself. The car still felt strange after driving it away and two weeks later the DTC hydraulic unit packed in as I believe this controls the ABS, traction control and the ABS tyre pressure system. This is a known issue for earlier cars if yours is one of them and if you've ruled out the wheel and tyres this could be your problem as I am adament that the tyre pressure warning light kept giving faulty readings because the whole unit was on the blink. |

That's interesting - a full Hunter alignment is usually in the region of £70 - £80, which is a fraction of the £250 KDS price mentioned above!
