Exclamation Chicago Potholes, Awesome Job!

Alright so I decided to hop on the highway for the first time in months because I knew the day after the 4th would be dead. Now because the fine city of Chicago is always under construction, I hit a beautiful large pot hole on the on ramp of 355.

Now I have a strong vibration throughout the car and feels like a I have a flat tire bumping in the rear. It rattles the whole car, the steering wheel, my radar detector, and it has a slight pull to the right...

First: Any ideas on the problem?

Second: Anyone know any good shops in Chicago for this that I trust with my car?

Third: Will BMW charge me my entire savings account to fix this?

Have you checked the wheels and tires for any visible damage? If none, you may need the wheels rebalanced. I am in NYC and I notice the stock wheels become unbalanced very easy over some rough roads. Causes the steering wheel to vibrate at highway speeds.

BMW, please get rid of the RFT's and give us a spare tire!

You most likely have damage to the wheel.

Depending on the damage, wheel repair may be possible. However, if you can't, I'd recommend going with a different set of wheels - maybe a set that can hold up to Chicago potholes a bit better.

you probably have a bent/cracked wheel. get the car on a lift and check them out.

Definitely sounds like a bent rim.

Most likely a bent rim and a needed alignment.

been threw this process a few times, main thing to look for is if the rim is bent, best way to determine this is to go to a mavis or other tire/brake place and get your car realigned and ballanced. if after this you still have strong vibrations i suggest you get your rim fixed
