Running high boost levels on stock diverter valves.
Iam a lil worried iam not to sure if these stocks will hold up at the rate iam going with mods. My setup right now is Map7,DCI,muffler delete, Catless dp's 2.5". Iall say iam sustaining around 14 psi but iam just not sure if these will hold when iam going to bump boost to sustain 15-16.
Anyone running those boost levels on stock DV's and how are they holdin up thanks,Jon

There is no reason to worry about using stock DV's @16 PSI. I know several 335's that are using stock DV's on a 17+ PSI boost level without problems, including my own car. One person that I know have got problems with heavy aftermarket DV's, where the DV-stud on the charge pipe has cracked and caused boost leak. |

17psi for a month now on stock DV with no issues. Dyno'd strong as well.
I think I've read you see slightly improved throttle response with stiffer springs at high boost, but that could be subjective at the least.

I have yet to see any posting of failed Stock DV's on any N54 tuning forum. Most of the issues I have seen are actually on aftermarket stuff not using the proper springs or aftermarket charge pipes popping off due to install errors.
Unlike the Audi world, where I constantly had DV failures on both my B5 S4 and B7 A4 2.0T. The diaphrams would tear causing boost leaks, but in both of those cars, aftermarket DV's or in the case of the B5 S4 (710N) valves used in P-cars were a necessary upgrade in all chipped cars. I assume if the DV's were a weak part of the system in modded cars we would see MANY more boost leak posting remedied by replacing the DV's. FYI: 3+ years and 30k+ miles modded and still on my stock DV's. |

With the forge DV's I found throttle response is tighter and crisper.....the stiffer springs hold boost longer before dumping, so at part throttle you have more boost immediately available in the charge pipe. Other than that.....the stock ones never gave any grief and worked just fine. |
