new to 335i advise

So I want to do some basic mods to a 07 335i sedan from stock form. (Minor I've wasted over a decade mod'ing cars and losing money doing so). Looking for Bang for the buck performance. I've read about the split second turbo timer.. (cheap gets decent hp etc..). But how much psi could the engine w/ auto tranny handle w/o ever having a foreseeable issue. Also is the intake restrictive? And how much PSI till intercooler needs an upgrade? Not touching the exhaust, so I hope it is configured well OEM.

Any advise or general ideas would be appreciate..

You'll need to do some reading as this information has been covered a bunch. The quick rundown is this:

1. Get a Procede V4 or a JB3 pnp with a BT tool - (Cost ~900)
2. Get a DCI (dual cone intake) - (Cost ~150)

with these two things you'll be set and your car should be delivering around 70more hp and about 85lb torque than stock.

Getting the least expensive tune for your car is like getting the cheapest helmet for your head. Or the cheapest tires for your wheels. Try to weigh the pros and cons if different tuning options. If budget does not allow for what fits your needs, wait until it does. It's not like the stock 300hp tune is unsufferable

I don't want to turn this into a holy war, but we should add in the price of the BT tool for the JB3 (if the user is concerned about removing traces of the tune when going in for warranty work). I wouldn't normally bring this up, but the user is a confessed newbie in the tuning area. Adding in the BT tool makes the tunes virtually the same price.

Too late. Holy war has begun!

Edit: $699 combo vs $945 is a big difference (I'm going by their respective web sites)

You have a lot of entry level options. The JB+ is one of the most popular tunes out with thousands and thousands sold. It's $279 and installs in seconds. Gives a nice 30-50rw bump depending on the settings you use. Extremely reliable too. You also get 100% trade up credit to a JB3 should the HP bug strike down the line.

+1 procede rev2 v4 (autotune and the awesome support w/ continuously improving maps), USB serial cable, DCI (Injen if you believe in the placement of the filters).

I think people forget the BT is much much more than a "delete all codes" utility....

actually I've been sport tuning cars for about 15 years now. I'm just a n00b when it comes to the 335i b/c I am not familiar enough w/ the internals as of yet. But yes, I am trying to keep any engine modifications easily removable and untraceable for possible warranty work. As mentioned I don't wanna go overboard like I have ever other car I owned.. b/c I always seem to spend to much money, and never get a decent return value on the car (I hate parting out mods).

I saw a post here on the intake. But I did read a small article yesterday on tuning that stated there was little to no difference w/ a +3 psi boost w/ the stock air filter on or off. Stating that the filter obviously was very breathable in stock form. Has anyone actually seen a dyno using the JB3 w/ and w/o a DCI?

thanx for at least pointing me in the right direction the off the most workable mods. I don't mind googling the products and reading up..

I was in the exact same situation as you.

Last car had over $20k in mods. Including tons of motor work that I never got the investment back on. I swore/swear I will not be doing that to this car. I hope I can hold to it!!!

I ended up doing a JB3 PnP, the DCI intake kit, and got a BT cable. I love the combo so far. Just my experience.

And I have to say, I think it is pretty crappy of the Vishnu guy/girl to come on your thread and bad mouth someone elses product. I considered his product until asking a friend of mine with an 2007 who had heating issues with his and got little support. He ended up just removing it and putting in a closet.

Lots of people have had success with it and I am sure it's a good product..... But not cool to come out of the box bad mouthing.

Hmmm, I didn't see any badmouthing of any tunes here - a bit of a stretch especially given that the JB tunes are not the cheapest...

Not sure what you mean? As of this post there are the following tunes for sale on the first page of the classifieds.

SSTT - 1
JB+ - 3
Proceed v4 - 3
JB3 - 3

So there are the same amount proceeds for sale then jb3s. Not sure what your point is?
