Quick AMS E90 N54 Exhaust Review with Vids

I've had the 3" AMS V-Band exhaust for about 8 months now and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Eric@AMS was great to deal with and always quick to answer all my questions. The build quality of the kit is remarkable and every detail was covered to include all mounting hardware. Installation was straightforward and thanks to the v-band connections getting the perfect fit was pain free.
On the sound front it is my favorite I've come across. It has a very deep note which I think may come from the combination of the two downpipes. I have had a few people ask me about drone. I really feel the concept of drone is very subjective but I've always just said I don't find the sound at any RPM/throttle position to be overwhelming and my girl hasn't complained on any of our road trips.

This is my first go at editing videos so let me know what you guys think. Check them out in HD

On the performance front I think the idea of make the exhaust as straight as possible is really exemplified in the AMS setup. AMS is also really about big power as a company and always thoroughly research and test their products so I have complete faith in this one. As to my own experiences I haven't gotten a chance to dyno a stock tune vs aftermarket yet but it will happen down the road.

1. a full 3" pipe can support over 800whp....We do it here all day long.

In conclusion here are a couple quick shots of the welds on my specific system. I think even AR would be proud. Don't mind the mess, they were taken in the middle of the Maryland winter and they Love salt here.

I've got this system too...I agree about the sound...it's absolutely incredible. It sounds even better echoing off of a building or when you're in a car following. Amazing sound, amazing weight savings, and great company, what more can you ask for?!

Now that i see these pics i am certain they are using the vibrant muffler. Its a 3" in and dual 2.5" out.

Garage List
Sounds like a RB26 or a 2JZ, I love it! If I had the funds I would swap my exhaust for this one, I'm sure the weight savings are phenomenal.

Even if it offered no flow gain at all, it looks like there is some significant weight savings! I wonder how much lighter?

I have to say it really is dramatically lighter.

sounds great, what business park was this in in Frederick?

I used to live in Urbana for 2 years and know the area pretty well.

U should make it to a BMW CCA meet soon, or we are going to dyno a bit at Motorsport performance in the next 2 weeks if your interested.

I would like to hear this exhaust in person.

I am. But for stock turbos, 3" is plenty.

I was having trouble finding a good spot with enough road and minimal traffic. That and a place I could leave my camera alone for a couple min . I ended up using a road off of Buckeystown behind the shopping center with the theater and Champions. I'll definately have to hit a meet up. The dyno event sounds cool.

In my opinion there is no drone but check out the cruising video. I did what I could to show most types of driving situations. On the XI note last I say AMS was working with a member on the board here to get it test fit, but it wasn't for sure yet.

The wheels are 19x9 and 19x10 Modulare Forged M14's with a complete hidden hardware option. Chrome lip with a brushed face. Even the valve stems are Behind the face of the wheel. The tires are Toyo T1R's in 225/35 and 255/30
