I didn't get a chance to read everything in this thread so the following may be regurgitation.
CONSULTANT from my thread told me Terry purchased a Rev II from another friend of mine ("FRIEND") a while back, fwiw. Probably coincidence these new features are now in the works. FRIEND decided to go the route of Giac instead of piggyback. Despite the alleged/apparent/blatant hypocrisy, copy cat practices is just business. The frustration of course seems to stem from the aforementioned alleged/apparent/blatant hypocrisy on Terry's part. I think Terry should just embrace copying Shiv's "innovation"--Shiv is great but let's face it a lot of his "innovation" has been done before on other platforms too. In simple speak: "terry shud jus stop frontin, he wud get mo bitches dat way." |

I just read this thread and I think its great. As someone mentioned, I don't care to discuss who copied who but rather point out the fact that because of the competition between the producers (Shiv/Terry), the consumer wins! We get better products constantly and for a good price.
It is kind of like comparing iphone to android phones. They are both smart phones and because of the competition, they both try to outdo one another. One has more features than the other one day and the next day, the other comes back with even more features. Both phones still makes phone calls, sends messages, view emails and plays music but their implementation is different. JB3 and Procede, no matter how alike they may be, they are different because different people produced it. They both tune our cars so get the one that fits best for you and stop b**ching about who copied who.

Finding a relevant, proper, "blanket" analogy is difficult, so I would like to clarify my perceived flaws with your analogy, although it's not a bad one.
Quote:
The best example I can think of is the JB2H vs. the PROcede V1.4/2. I remember everyone in SoCal who drove my JB2H car hands down preferred the JB2H for it's immediate "kick in the pants" feeling. The reality was, as I later discovered, the JB2H felt so raw because it was so basic...in layman's terms. Quote:
Shiv will argue whether the JB can actually properly and safely make those phone calls but will argue in such a fashion that makes him unlikable due to perceived pedantry and condescending tone. Terry will argue that a phone should be uncomplicated, focus purely on making phone calls without the clutter of sending messages, viewing emails, and playing music but will later implement all those features anyway and change his stance. |

i dont understand why people are getting so emotional over "copying" tunes or "stealing features"...its fuckin' business, and its not even your business.

imitation is the most ultimate form of flattery..... Look at the iphone....EVERYONE has a touch screen with Apple esqu UI's....It's just the trend for phones moving forward. Same thing with tunes. Shiv really can't upset, but rather, just continue improvement in his product to always keep him one step ahead.
Look at Web search...Yahoo! is the pioneer, but here comes Google, who's name has become a verb that has replaced the term "web search". If Shiv ever gets complacent with his tune, he will be the next Yahoo! With that said, we as the consumer win, so we should encourage Terry to copy and push Shiv to make more advances. |
